Thank you for your interest in recycling! We certainly can accept cartridges for recycling, but rather than just shipping those cartridges back to us, there may be some better options available for you.
Firstly, if you have collected a lot of empties, it is possible they may be worth some money! We recommend checking out the Green Hippo Recycling Rewards program at greenhippo.com. The program helps schools and various organizations raise much needed funds by recycling empty printer cartridges, new and used cell phones, and un-used/new filled printer cartridges. They may even pay you for your items if your items qualify for the program. The amounts offered do vary and depend on a few factors such as the type of cartridge, whether it has been previously remanufactured, etc. If your recycling order meets a minimum [20 items of mixed qualifying product (must be on their price list) or 20 pounds of qualifying product], Green Hippo may be able to supply a label to cover the shipping cost as well. To find out more about the program, and if your items qualify, we encourage you to visit www.greenhippo.com
or give them a call directly at 855-304-4776.
On the other hand, if you only have a few cartridges to return and just want to make sure that the cartridges don’t end up in a landfill, then visiting a local store like Kinkos, Target or Officemax would be your best option. We feel that it reduces emissions, saves packaging waste, and is generally best for the environment to recycle locally rather than loading empties onto a truck for shipment.
