I have been using the one-page-per-day compact planner for over 20 years. I like the compact size, and the leather cover I ordered with the first one still looks almost as good as new. There are two drawbacks to the product: You have to trade what I believe are an inordinate amount of dollars for it, and you also have to give the company what seems like way too many dollars to ship it. Without those two problems, the product would get 5 stars from me. Perhaps if it were shipped with just the planner refills and without all of the other stuff that is just thrown away, the number of dollars traded for it and given for shipping would be more reasonable.

I was an early adopter of Personal Digital Assistants, beginning with the Palm Pilot all the way through the latest smart phones - but the simple reality for me is that paper and pencil is faster and easier for me to use. The only advantage of digital systems is the ability to search and recall past events - but, I almost never need that functionality. I need to make quick notes, have quick access to my schedule, etc., and the compact page-per-day planner is faster and easier to use than any electronic device I've ever used. Plus, I never have to worry about the battery going dead, I can use it on a plane, and when I drop my Day-Timer, the screen doesn't crack.

multiple copies had missing pages. The faulty product was replaced, once it was discovered, which was after I needed the missing page. I now check each volume for correctness, something I don't think I should have to do for a product that is this pricey!

I bought this as a gift for my sister who is re-entering real estate after a child-rearing hiatus. She complained to me that the pocket calendars she found for 2015 had little room provided for Saturday and Sunday, which are her busiest days. I had been a DayTimer user way-back in my sales-career days and remembered what a great tool it is. I was confident you would have something appropriate and I found it easily and quickly on your website. She LOVES this one: with a page each for both weekend days. She also did not expect the helpful file box with folders for her gasoline-charge slips. Thanks, DayTimer, for being here for me after all these years!

This could so easily be made a great pocket calendar with just a few formatting/setup changes:

MONDAY START! 99% of the workforce starts the work week on Monday - when planner companies have daily/monthly planners which start on Sunday, the flow of weekly and monthly planning suffers (for example, events that occupy the entire weekend have to be written twice on a Sunday-start monthly calendar vs. just written once across the weekend on a Monday-start monthly planner)

Two changes need to be made to improve this 1ppd compact calendar in this respect:

1-The monthly planning pages included in the back of each booklet needs to be Sunday-start

2-Start the daily planner pages with the "Notes/Memo" page on the left-sided page (and rename it "Notes/Memo/Weekly To-Do") and Monday on the right-sided page. This results in several huge improvements:
1- the weekend pages (Saturday and Sunday) then both show up on opposing pages so that the entire weekend can be seen when opening the planner to Sat or Sun
2-for those that tear out past pages to keep minimal thickness, the Notes/Memo page can be kept in during the week and be as a constant reminder of the weekly to-do

Perforated corner tabs at the bottom would also increase accessibility of the monthly planner at the back of each booklet

Love, the format, hate the paper! A Day-Timer news release I found online said they had fixed the paper quality issue, and some project sheets I bought at a local store suggested the paper no longer had bleed through problems, only drying issues with some inks, so I took the plunge. The paper quality is inconsistent from product to product, but the product that matters, the planner/calendar, has really bad bleed through with fountain pen ink. I read about this before buying (on the fountain pen network), but thought it had been fixed. Really disappointed, because I really love the planner, could really stick with the format if it wasn't for this. For those who know about fountain pens, X-Feather ink helps somewhat with the problem, but it still has some bleed through, definitely show through.

Description OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer, meaning the cartridge was made by the same company that made your printer. Original brand cartridges are very reliable and sometimes the only option if your printer is new to market or uncommon. Remanufactured ink is a genuine brand cartridge that has gone through one cycle of use. After use, the cartridge is recycled, acquired by a remanufacturing facility and put through a rigorous professional refurbishing process. During the refurbishing process the cartridge is disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and tested for quality. It's then carefully refilled, tested again and brought back to life. Buying remanufactured prevents one less cartridge from ending up in a landfill. A compatible cartridge is a brand new ink cartridge built by a manufacturer other than your printer. It's like buying the generic version of the genuine brand. Most are uniquely designed to differentiate from genuine cartridges. Despite any structural difference you may notice, the cartridge will still fit in your machine and print a full yield, just like the original brand.
Price Factors Many printer manufacturers follow the razor-and-blades business model which may result in higher priced genuine cartridges. Remanufactured ink is much cheaper than the original brand ink. It's far more cost effective to refurbish a previously used cartridge than create a new OEM from scratch. Compatible ink is much cheaper than the original brand. Compatible suppliers don't have to worry about the additional costs that hinder OEMs like new printers or firmware, which lets them keep prices low.
Quality Original cartridges work extremely well and are covered under a warranty by the printer manufacturer High quality remanufactured ink will match the quality of the original, but not all remanufactured ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results. High quality compatible ink will match the quality of the original, but not all compatible ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results.
What's the difference between ink and toner cartridges?
                        Ink Cartridges Toner Cartridges
Printer Type Work with inkjet printers Work with laser printers
                        Material Liquid ink Dry powder
How it works Inkjet printers use a series of nozzles that spray tiny drops of ink directly on the print suface Laser toner printers use static electricity and heat to bond dry toner powder to a page
Commonly used by Casual home users, small business and photographers Large businesses and schools
Number of Pages You Can Print A cartridge's page yield is the estimated number of pages you can print. Page yield is based on 5% page coverage. This means that the quoted page yield is based upon printed pages where only 5% of the page has been imprinted with ink. For example, a short memo has approximately 5% coverage. If you have a cartridge that has a yield of 500 pages, it can print 500 pages of that short memo. If you are printing letters, photos or graphics, your coverage will vary greatly and your page yield will drop significantly.
Cartridge Warranty and Shelf Life Most ink and toner cartridges include a warranty or "best by" date on their box. Remanufactured and compatible ink cartridges can last 12-18 months unopened, and toner cartridges can last up to 3 years.
Cartridge Care and Storage Only open a cartridge when you need it. Opened cartridges will eventually dry out, especially if the protective tape or clip has been removed. If you have an open ink cartridge around and would like to try and prevent it from drying out, place it nozzle side up in a plastic airtight tub. If your cartridge came with protective tape or a clip reapply both before storing. Place a damp cloth or paper towel in the tub, next to the cartridge and keep it stored in a cool, dark place.
