I just purchased the new gel pens in 0.7 size and it's the best gel pen yet. I've always been a fan of papermate ballpoint pens, so much so that I hoard them but the gel pens have changed my life. I like the variety of colors, it truly does write smoothly with no smearing. The design of the pen case is awesome, I am partial to larger pen cases. It really feels good to hold it in your hands and my number one favorite thing is that there's a window to see where your ink is at. I'm neurotic in the fact that I hate to start journaling and turns out I have to use another pen in the middle of writing because the inks run out and I had no clue it was low. Great job on this one Papermate.

I bought this pen a few weeks ago and I loved the gel pen as soon as I got it. However, after less than a week, it started skipping. I am a student and I used the pens to take notes, write in my planner and other things in and out of class. With over half a stick of ink left, I was confused as to why it seemed to be out of ink. I have tried different methods to get the pen working again, and it did for a couple sentences and it started skipping again... in the end I had to pull out a different pen.

Great but dies fast

Comments about Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Retractable Pen:

I bought 2 black ones to try them out and I loved them. Wrote so nice and were so comfortable but died way too fast. You can see there is still plenty of ink in both pens but the ink does not come out smooth anymore. For the price of these pens I wish they would be able to last until the very end!

SO amazing! For a week!

Comments about Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Retractable Pen:

I'm was soooo happy buying these so amazing and smooth! But my most used blue and black started scratching and I was so sad. Now my other colors are doing it. I'm a uni student so unsustainable :( and I'm left handed So I need the quick dry.

Good, But Not Good.

Comments about Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Retractable Pen:

When I first bought my pens, I was ecstatic. I really liked the design and output. I am a teacher so I use my pens quite frequently and was excited to find the right pen for me and my purposes. I was so excited I bought TWO 14 packs of different colors. However, after about a month or so into using my new pens, a few of them started to skip. I checked if there was still ink; there was: and I checked if the tip was clogged; it wasn't. I'm super disappointed and will give the pens another try, but will not buy again until this problem is resolved - hopefully, this was due to a bad batch.

BEST. GEL. EVER.

Comments about Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Retractable Pen:

Ink doesn't skip or clump like other gels. Stays brilliant after it dries, does not smudge. My favorite pen ever.

Great but slightly flawed

By Norms

Comments about Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Retractable Pen:

I bought one gel pen and I liked it so much that I went and bought a whole pack! Use them for work as I write all day long. Great at first, but once it gets to the half way point, it no longer writes as smoothly. I feel the ink doesn't properly flow and the writing gets cut off. Also 100% smudge proof but most definitely better than most.

Disappointed

Comments about Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Retractable Pen:

I bought the ink joy gel pens a couple of weeks ago. Not long after using them the ink stopped coming out, and they're still full of ink. I shake the pen and write on diffrent pieces of paper yet I'm still getting the same result. I'm just very disappointed that I can't use my pens and it was a waste of money.

Horrible!

By bl1415

Comments about Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Retractable Pen:

Initially these pens were fantastic but after very minimal use, these pens ceased to work. The ink does not write smoothly (or at all) on paper-I thought that the tip may have been clogged and tried to unclog it but no luck. These pens are horrible-don't waste your money.

LOVE - NEED METALLICS!!

By Crafty

Comments about Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Retractable Pen:

Ever since I first tested the Inkjoy Gel pens I've been in love! They smear less than every other pen I've tried and they are so comfortable to hold. The gel writes so smoothly. They really are a joy! The only down side? There are no metallics! Please come out with Inkjoy Gel Metallics! I need some sparkle!

Cartridge Comparison Guide
  • Cartridge Types
  • Ink & Toner Basics
  • Number of Pages & Shelf Life
Cartridge Type
Genuine or OEM (Original) Cartridges Remanufactured Cartridges Compatible Cartridges
Description OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer, meaning the cartridge was made by the same company that made your printer. Original brand cartridges are very reliable and sometimes the only option if your printer is new to market or uncommon. Remanufactured ink is a genuine brand cartridge that has gone through one cycle of use. After use, the cartridge is recycled, acquired by a remanufacturing facility and put through a rigorous professional refurbishing process. During the refurbishing process the cartridge is disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and tested for quality. It's then carefully refilled, tested again and brought back to life. Buying remanufactured prevents one less cartridge from ending up in a landfill. A compatible cartridge is a brand new ink cartridge built by a manufacturer other than your printer. It's like buying the generic version of the genuine brand. Most are uniquely designed to differentiate from genuine cartridges. Despite any structural difference you may notice, the cartridge will still fit in your machine and print a full yield, just like the original brand.
Price Factors Many printer manufacturers follow the razor-and-blades business model which may result in higher priced genuine cartridges. Remanufactured ink is much cheaper than the original brand ink. It's far more cost effective to refurbish a previously used cartridge than create a new OEM from scratch. Compatible ink is much cheaper than the original brand. Compatible suppliers don't have to worry about the additional costs that hinder OEMs like new printers or firmware, which lets them keep prices low.
Quality Original cartridges work extremely well and are covered under a warranty by the printer manufacturer High quality remanufactured ink will match the quality of the original, but not all remanufactured ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results. High quality compatible ink will match the quality of the original, but not all compatible ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results.
What's the difference between ink and toner cartridges?
Ink Cartridges Toner Cartridges
Printer Type Work with inkjet printers Work with laser printers
Material Liquid ink Dry powder
How it works Inkjet printers use a series of nozzles that spray tiny drops of ink directly on the print suface Laser toner printers use static electricity and heat to bond dry toner powder to a page
Commonly used by Casual home users, small business and photographers Large businesses and schools
Number of Pages You Can Print A cartridge's page yield is the estimated number of pages you can print. Page yield is based on 5% page coverage. This means that the quoted page yield is based upon printed pages where only 5% of the page has been imprinted with ink. For example, a short memo has approximately 5% coverage. If you have a cartridge that has a yield of 500 pages, it can print 500 pages of that short memo. If you are printing letters, photos or graphics, your coverage will vary greatly and your page yield will drop significantly.
Cartridge Warranty and Shelf Life Most ink and toner cartridges include a warranty or "best by" date on their box. Remanufactured and compatible ink cartridges can last 12-18 months unopened, and toner cartridges can last up to 3 years.
Cartridge Care and Storage Only open a cartridge when you need it. Opened cartridges will eventually dry out, especially if the protective tape or clip has been removed. If you have an open ink cartridge around and would like to try and prevent it from drying out, place it nozzle side up in a plastic airtight tub. If your cartridge came with protective tape or a clip reapply both before storing. Place a damp cloth or paper towel in the tub, next to the cartridge and keep it stored in a cool, dark place.
