For 26 years I have been using 6 volt swivel lanterns in my plumbing business. I have seen all types and none of them were all that great. The brightness was poor or the swivels wore out or broke. One of the plumbing supply houses I deal with started carrying this Rayovac model about five years ago and I bought one. First thing I noticed was the superior brightness! The swivel held quite well and this is a sturdy well built item. I drop them all the time and only one lantern has broken and that was from a nasty fall. The bulb holder broke, but it was a dead-fall on concrete. I have probably owned 15 of these lanterns and the reason for that is I lose them on jobsites. I have one for the house, two for the work truck, and two spares in the garage. I am now ordering my lanterns from Rayovac as my supply house is now, again, selling a poor quality lantern. Here is an important tip: Lantern bulbs burn out like house bulbs, and they can get broken filaments if the lantern is dropped. Buy extra bulbs. Make sure the bulbs are for a SIX VOLT lantern or you may get bulbs for "D" battery flashlights and they will burn out super fast.

Good light at a good price

By Wilberforce

from Fayetteville, NC, USA

Comments about Rayovac Industrial 6V Lantern:

Good light for all around the farm use. Batteries last a long time, if you get the good ones like the F-cell or Duracell, Energizer, etc. The one that comes with the light, is , well, free-you know what I mean.. Great light output with the focused beam for medium to long distances. I use it all the time and seems to be durable too.

Comfort for my 88 year old Mom

By ViskInOz

from Kansas, USA

Comments about Rayovac Industrial 6V Lantern:

I recently purchased your 6 Volt Swivel Lantern (2) for my 88 year old mom. She recently had carpel tunnel operations on both hands and is somewhat limited as to what she is able to do...like hold a flashlight and do things with both hands. She had a similar light that was probably 20 years old and she didn't think they made those models of lights any more...the ones with a stand. Anyway, after a quick search online, I found exactly what she needed from RayOVac and she is completely satisfied, (which is sometimes a difficult thing to pull off with yer ole ma). The product came as ordered...no damage..and more than met her expectations. She uses one by her nightstand and one for when she has to check her furnace down in the cellar. She chooses to live by herself on a 100 acre farm and to have a reliable source of light, especially in the winter and when you are alone, is a good feeling of reassurance. Thanks for a great product and prompt service.

This appears to be a quality product.

By Reviewer1000

Comments about Rayovac Industrial 6V Lantern:

The 6 Volt Swivel Lantern appears very bright when taken outdoors in the dark. It arrived with a heavy-duty replacement battery, and the flashlight does have a place inside to store a replacement bulb, but extra bulbs must be purchased separately.

This is a sturdy and very useful product

By Bren

from VA

Comments about Rayovac Industrial 6V Lantern:

The 6 Volt Swivel Lantern is lightweight to carry but very well made. I've had mine in rain and mud, and I have accidentally dropped it onto a floor. It has come through all of this just fine. It gives plenty of illumination, and the ability to have it sit at an angle is very handy. The handle makes it comfortable and easy to carry as well. Rayovac has a winner with this product, and the low price is greatly appreciated too.

Great features

By bugler

Comments about Rayovac Industrial 6V Lantern:

I've had one of these for quite a while. I use it in a crawl space at my daughter's house. Great that I can tip it up to see what I,m working on in that dark space. I keep one in my bedroom in case the power goes off. Showed it to a friend and he had me get him one. The 2 I just got are going to be Christmas presents for my grandsons. I ordered them from you because I couldn't find this model in the stores. Thank you.

Good basic lantern with swivel base.

Comments about Rayovac Industrial 6V Lantern:

Good basic lantern with bright bulb. The swivel is great for use when you need to change a flat on a dark night. Nothing fancy to break. It works.

Good light @ good price!

By JayWooProduce

from Fayetteville, NC, USA

Comments about Rayovac Industrial 6V Lantern:

Just a simple 6 volt lantern. Nice handle, not much use for the pivoting foot though. Switch good for gloved hands too. Gives off a good light for a long time with a good battery. Of course, the free one that came with it didn't last long at all. Use a Duracell or name brand and it will run a long time. The F cell from rayovac is good too.

Cartridge Comparison Guide
  • Cartridge Types
  • Ink & Toner Basics
  • Number of Pages & Shelf Life
Cartridge Type
Genuine or OEM (Original) Cartridges Remanufactured Cartridges Compatible Cartridges
Description OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer, meaning the cartridge was made by the same company that made your printer. Original brand cartridges are very reliable and sometimes the only option if your printer is new to market or uncommon. Remanufactured ink is a genuine brand cartridge that has gone through one cycle of use. After use, the cartridge is recycled, acquired by a remanufacturing facility and put through a rigorous professional refurbishing process. During the refurbishing process the cartridge is disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and tested for quality. It's then carefully refilled, tested again and brought back to life. Buying remanufactured prevents one less cartridge from ending up in a landfill. A compatible cartridge is a brand new ink cartridge built by a manufacturer other than your printer. It's like buying the generic version of the genuine brand. Most are uniquely designed to differentiate from genuine cartridges. Despite any structural difference you may notice, the cartridge will still fit in your machine and print a full yield, just like the original brand.
Price Factors Many printer manufacturers follow the razor-and-blades business model which may result in higher priced genuine cartridges. Remanufactured ink is much cheaper than the original brand ink. It's far more cost effective to refurbish a previously used cartridge than create a new OEM from scratch. Compatible ink is much cheaper than the original brand. Compatible suppliers don't have to worry about the additional costs that hinder OEMs like new printers or firmware, which lets them keep prices low.
Quality Original cartridges work extremely well and are covered under a warranty by the printer manufacturer High quality remanufactured ink will match the quality of the original, but not all remanufactured ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results. High quality compatible ink will match the quality of the original, but not all compatible ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results.
What's the difference between ink and toner cartridges?
Ink Cartridges Toner Cartridges
Printer Type Work with inkjet printers Work with laser printers
Material Liquid ink Dry powder
How it works Inkjet printers use a series of nozzles that spray tiny drops of ink directly on the print suface Laser toner printers use static electricity and heat to bond dry toner powder to a page
Commonly used by Casual home users, small business and photographers Large businesses and schools
Number of Pages You Can Print A cartridge's page yield is the estimated number of pages you can print. Page yield is based on 5% page coverage. This means that the quoted page yield is based upon printed pages where only 5% of the page has been imprinted with ink. For example, a short memo has approximately 5% coverage. If you have a cartridge that has a yield of 500 pages, it can print 500 pages of that short memo. If you are printing letters, photos or graphics, your coverage will vary greatly and your page yield will drop significantly.
Cartridge Warranty and Shelf Life Most ink and toner cartridges include a warranty or "best by" date on their box. Remanufactured and compatible ink cartridges can last 12-18 months unopened, and toner cartridges can last up to 3 years.
Cartridge Care and Storage Only open a cartridge when you need it. Opened cartridges will eventually dry out, especially if the protective tape or clip has been removed. If you have an open ink cartridge around and would like to try and prevent it from drying out, place it nozzle side up in a plastic airtight tub. If your cartridge came with protective tape or a clip reapply both before storing. Place a damp cloth or paper towel in the tub, next to the cartridge and keep it stored in a cool, dark place.
