I was sent WorkTunes with Voice Assist to try and review for free. My review is my own experience with the product. I don't work in a noisy environment that I can protect my ears from. I'm a teacher. My husband is a contractor and uses heavy machinery, so these apply more to him in a workplace, but I love being able to be in my own world at home/in the car, without having to hear the chaos of my 4 children. They are very simple to use, easy to program radio stations, and the Voice Assist tells you which station you are on, and which mode you're in, without having to take them off. They are very comfortable to wear, and I actually forget I'm wearing them. THey stretch to fit my husband's large head with no problem. The sound quality is very good, with only a bit of static in certain areas and lower frequency stations, but overall the quality is very good. They don't turn up too loud, which is nice, since the goal is to protect your ears. I can walk around the house, be in the car with the kids yelling and the radio in the car on, and still hear only my own music. Although they plug in easily to my phone to listen to things like Pandora (with great sound quality), it really would be simpler (and safer in the workplace) to have Bluetooth technology. And since Bluetooth exists on most things now, it seems ridiculous to not have it. I looked up the product and see that 3M makes the same product with Bluetooth, and it's about double the price. I still, think, though that these headphones with hearing protector would be worth spending the money on to get the upgraded version. My husband tried these with a jackhammer going in the background and also outside when the gardener was using his least-favorite thing, the leaf blower. He said although he could hear the jackhammer, it seemed far in the background and he could still clearly hear his own music. He also said it sure helped block out the leaf blower, which he hates more than anything.

Works good for loud noise protection. They're comfortable to wear for hours at a time. The FM radio reception is not too good, I've walked around with an old Am/FM radio with a standard antennae I use in the garage. We used to take it to the beach when I was a kid about 30 years ago, I wanted to see if it was the worktunes or just bad spots for reception and the old radio gets better reception than the 3M worktunes does. The FM stations fade in and out for some reason even when they are local stations with towers close by. The volume on the radio is very weak also. I have to turn it the whole way up and still have problems hearing it sometimes. I've had this pair for a few months and they look like new. Every night all my gear gets cleaned up and put away so I know it's not from misuse or abuse. I would really like these if the FM radio reception was a lot better and the volume was much louder. I wouldn't even mind if the antenna was a little longer as long as it got better FM reception. Better speakers or more volume would be great also. I really wanted to like these but they are lacking in FM reception and sound volume. The way they are now I might as well use regular haring protection.

Works great! Received these as a sample to try out, and they work really well. I used them even with a leaf blower and I could still hear my music.

Comfort and tunes!

Comments about Tekk Protection Worktunes Earmuf:

I selected these headphones for use when I do yard work and cutting the grass or using the weedeater. While it doesn't seem like it at the time, both of these machines can cause hearing loss over time or at least cause an unnecessary annoyance. Upon receiving this item, I was actually surprised at how comfortable they were and how much they muted the outside noise. They really feel like a quality item and produce some pretty good sound from the AM / FM radio. When I am doing the yard work now, I can almost get lost listening to the radio and forget that I am using these power tools. I haven't yet used the MP3 function via external device, so I can't comment on that part. I use rechargeable batteries and the device also has an auto-shut off feature if you forget to turn it off. I did remove a star, as I wish that switching between the channels / modes / presets was more immediate, instead of waiting for the "voice" to tell you what channel / mode you are on. There are times that I switch to something I didn't want because I forgot I had to wait for the voice to finish first. Not really an issue if you use it often, but during the winter I've only had to use it every few weeks or so. Perhaps in the summer, I will get the hang of it. I received this product for free in order to test / use it under the condition of writing an unbiased review afterwards.

Built well

Comments about Tekk Protection Worktunes Earmuf:

This set of headphones is well built to last in a unforgiving environment. I have used them while working on a sawmill and they have held up well to being dropped and covered with sawdust. They are comfortable to wear and with the built in radio, they are a much better option than a cheaper set without the radio. The noise reduction feature works great and is a must for anyone that works in a noisy occupation.

Comments about Tekk Protection Worktunes Earmuf:

Bright yellow color makes them easy to find. Easily adjustable and fits well, although a bit bulky. Radio and/or phono jack are appreciated, but maybe offer a Bluetooth option (wireless). Batt life seems to be okay.

Comments about Tekk Protection Worktunes Earmuf:

My 9 and 6 year old daughters love this. They each want one of their own. I thought it was a good product. My only complaint was that it seemed to move around on my head as I walked. Other than that, it works great. Definitely blocked out all other sound. I received this product for free in exchange for reviewing it.

The sound was good and reception! Even in places I normally don't get reception! They were comfortable! They only reason I gave it 4 stars is it was a little heavy but I wore them for a few hours..

Cartridge Comparison Guide
  • Cartridge Types
  • Ink & Toner Basics
  • Number of Pages & Shelf Life
Cartridge Type
Genuine or OEM (Original) Cartridges Remanufactured Cartridges Compatible Cartridges
Description OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer, meaning the cartridge was made by the same company that made your printer. Original brand cartridges are very reliable and sometimes the only option if your printer is new to market or uncommon. Remanufactured ink is a genuine brand cartridge that has gone through one cycle of use. After use, the cartridge is recycled, acquired by a remanufacturing facility and put through a rigorous professional refurbishing process. During the refurbishing process the cartridge is disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and tested for quality. It's then carefully refilled, tested again and brought back to life. Buying remanufactured prevents one less cartridge from ending up in a landfill. A compatible cartridge is a brand new ink cartridge built by a manufacturer other than your printer. It's like buying the generic version of the genuine brand. Most are uniquely designed to differentiate from genuine cartridges. Despite any structural difference you may notice, the cartridge will still fit in your machine and print a full yield, just like the original brand.
Price Factors Many printer manufacturers follow the razor-and-blades business model which may result in higher priced genuine cartridges. Remanufactured ink is much cheaper than the original brand ink. It's far more cost effective to refurbish a previously used cartridge than create a new OEM from scratch. Compatible ink is much cheaper than the original brand. Compatible suppliers don't have to worry about the additional costs that hinder OEMs like new printers or firmware, which lets them keep prices low.
Quality Original cartridges work extremely well and are covered under a warranty by the printer manufacturer High quality remanufactured ink will match the quality of the original, but not all remanufactured ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results. High quality compatible ink will match the quality of the original, but not all compatible ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results.
What's the difference between ink and toner cartridges?
Ink Cartridges Toner Cartridges
Printer Type Work with inkjet printers Work with laser printers
Material Liquid ink Dry powder
How it works Inkjet printers use a series of nozzles that spray tiny drops of ink directly on the print suface Laser toner printers use static electricity and heat to bond dry toner powder to a page
Commonly used by Casual home users, small business and photographers Large businesses and schools
Number of Pages You Can Print A cartridge's page yield is the estimated number of pages you can print. Page yield is based on 5% page coverage. This means that the quoted page yield is based upon printed pages where only 5% of the page has been imprinted with ink. For example, a short memo has approximately 5% coverage. If you have a cartridge that has a yield of 500 pages, it can print 500 pages of that short memo. If you are printing letters, photos or graphics, your coverage will vary greatly and your page yield will drop significantly.
Cartridge Warranty and Shelf Life Most ink and toner cartridges include a warranty or "best by" date on their box. Remanufactured and compatible ink cartridges can last 12-18 months unopened, and toner cartridges can last up to 3 years.
Cartridge Care and Storage Only open a cartridge when you need it. Opened cartridges will eventually dry out, especially if the protective tape or clip has been removed. If you have an open ink cartridge around and would like to try and prevent it from drying out, place it nozzle side up in a plastic airtight tub. If your cartridge came with protective tape or a clip reapply both before storing. Place a damp cloth or paper towel in the tub, next to the cartridge and keep it stored in a cool, dark place.
