UPDATE:\u00a0<\/strong>On October 12, 2016,\u00a0<\/span>HP\u00ae released an optional firmware update that will remove the controversial firmware update from your printer. \u00a0If your printer was affected and you want to continue using non-HP cartridges,\u00a0 visit the HP Customer Support Page<\/a> to find and download the corresponding update.\u00a0 After downloading, you should be able to print with non-HP cartridges again.<\/p>\n

HP\u2019s latest firmware update has frustrated many OfficeJet\u00ae owners across the world. On September 13<\/span>th<\/span> the technology giant ran an unexpected update that stopped inkjet cartridges from functioning in a number of OfficeJet, OfficeJet Pro and OfficeJet Pro X printers, rendering thousands of aftermarket cartridges obsolete overnight. \u00a0The affected cartridges include the HP 934\/935 and 950\/951 cartridge series. \u00a0Consumers affected by the update reported seeing \u201cCartridge Problem\u201d or \u201cOlder Generation\u201d error messages on their printer\u2019s display screens, which prevented them from using their cartridges.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m getting an error message, what can I do about it?<\/b><\/em><\/p>\n

Turn back the clock and reverse the frustration!<\/strong> So many customers were unhappy with HP\u2019s unexpected firmware update that HP actually <\/span>announced<\/span><\/a> a remedy for the affected cartridges. \u00a0This past week they issued an optional firmware update that will remove the controversial firmware update from your printer. \u00a0The new update will allow you to once again use cartridges that were previously deemed obsolete, effectively reversing the update. \u00a0If you are willing to wait for their new firmware update you can continue using your current cartridges \u00a0in about two weeks, when the update is expected to be available.<\/span><\/p>\n

Replace your cartridges with ones that are compatible with the firmware update.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you are not willing to wait two weeks for HP\u2019s corrective firmware update, we\u2019ve got another option you. \u00a0You can replace your current set of remanufactured cartridges with a working set that are compatible with the controversial firmware update. \u00a0This replacement set will not be affected by the error message, allowing your printer to continue to function.
