First you press the little gear symbol on the LCD\u00a0screen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2453\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ldproducts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/wheelshot-1.jpg\" alt=\"wheelshot\" width=\"544\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. Scroll down to cartridge information and a display will appear showing you your estimated cartridge ink levels.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2455\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ldproducts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/lowmagenta-2.jpg\" alt=\"lowmagenta\" width=\"544\" height=\"359\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If one of the cartridge levels is low, it\u2019s time to replace!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>How to Install or Replace an HP 902 Cartridge<\/h3>\n<p>Installing a new cartridge or replacing an old cartridge in the HP OfficeJet 6978 printer is easy.<\/p>\n<p>1. The first thing you will want to do is lift up the entire scanner unit &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2456\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ldproducts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/openlid-1.jpg\" alt=\"openlid\" width=\"549\" height=\"309\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; and wait for the carriage to center.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2457\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ldproducts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/cartridgecenters-1.jpg\" alt=\"cartridgecenters\" width=\"550\" height=\"315\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. If you have\u00a0a brand new OEM HP 902 cartridge, go ahead and remove the plastic wrap the cartridge came in.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-8704 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ldproducts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/unwrapOEMcartridge.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"553\" height=\"332\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Pro Tip:<\/em>\u00a0I like to prep new cartridges over a trashcan because sometimes a little bit of ink can escape as you unwrap them.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>4. The first thing you will want to remove is the\u00a0orange clip on the bottom of the cartridge. The other thing you need\u00a0to remove is the yellow tape on the top of the cartridge.\u00a0 Gently pull on the tape to remove, this will expose the vent hole on the cartridge so it can work properly in your machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2461\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ldproducts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/venthole.jpg\" alt=\"venthole\" width=\"556\" height=\"389\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Pro Tip:<\/em> Avoid touching the gold contact chip when handling the new cartridge.
