After trying for over 50 year to clean windows and mirrors without leaving smudge marks and residue, I had given up on ever getting a glass surface streak clean (even when I used a soap base product first) My new problem was that I have COPD and cleaners contain ammonia which shuts down my lungs within minutes of use. Trusting the Windex, I purchased the ammonia-free Windex Multisurface Vinegar base cleaner. My test surface was an 8' picture window.I can't believe that I got the entire window clean with gasping for air. And as an added bonus, when I stepped away to see how bad the streaks were......there were none...none! I strongly suggest that anyone with a respiratory problem purchase this product if they want both clear lungs and windows. It does an amazing job.

I agree with clean21. The new formula is a deal breaker. It now smells like fake green apple candy. I clean houses for a living and this was my go-to product. Now I'll have to return the six economy sized bottles I bought and try to find something new. As a professional cleaner, I can't tolerate the new scent. This seems to happen so often: companies ruin their quality home products by adding some intolerable fragrance, and I have to stop buying it. Please remove the new scent from the formula! Keep it simple! Less is more!

Excellent spray cleaner for surfaces in contact with food

By Tuffy 413

from North Florida

Comments about Windex MultiSurface Vinegar Cleaner:

I have a large outdoor gas grill that tends to get dusty and collect clippings after the lawn is mowed. The "dust cover" is not effective in preventing this accumulation. I wanted to use a cleaner that is non-toxic and safe to be used around foodstuffs. Vinegar is the traditional standard, and I've found Windex Multisurface Vinegar a convenient way to clean my grill before and after use. I'm not too concerned about leaving a "shine," but it does leave the aluminum and enamel surfaces looking fresh.

Very Disappointed and angry

By Angry

from Denver, CO, USA

Comments about Windex MultiSurface Vinegar Cleaner:

I was excited to try the Multi-purpose cleaner with vinegar because it was clear, BUT IT RUINED THE BRASS LIGHT BAR above the mirror in my bathroom. I had always used the original blue Windex, but it ran down the mirror and stained the white grout on my tile counter top. So I decided to try this product instead. I cleaned the light bar by spraying lightly and wiping with a soft cloth. Instead of a nice shine, I was left with a dull streaks or scratches. There was no warning on the bottle not to use it on brass. I tried to remedy it by washing it with clear water and drying with a soft cloth, but it was already ruined. I have thrown it in the trash because I am not willing to try it on any other surfaces. I certainly never expected it to ruin something in my house.

Leave streaks and a haze on mirrors and glass. Smell is quite strong and need to ventilate after use.

Vinegar - most effective, cure-all cleaner!

By supshelby

from Valdosta, GA, USA

Comments about Windex MultiSurface Vinegar Cleaner:

Now that I'm in my mid twenty somethings, I finally understand why my Dad swore up and down that vinegar was the best way to combat all kinds of household messes; taking care of my own household now I see that he wasn't exaggerating in the least! Windex's vinegar based cleaner works on various surfaces around the home, making it a trustworthy go-to that is natural, clean, and disinfects- without all the extra chemicals that wind up giving you a headache!

Comments about Windex MultiSurface Vinegar Cleaner:

I love the Vinegar based cleaner, but cannot get the spray nozzle to work. Have had to pour the contents into a different spray bottle to use it! What is with that? Please correct it!

Comments about Windex MultiSurface Vinegar Cleaner:

I clean for a living, and I was having horrible reactions to all the cleaning solutions we used, even the organic ones. Then we got this one. NO reactions. Finally! NO coughing, headaches, skin issue, etc. I love this stuff!

We use this on the windows on our cars and vans. It takes the bugs right off! This stuff really is a multisurface item! We use it every where. But we use it the most in the cars and on windows. We will not use anything else to clean them.

Cartridge Comparison Guide
  • Cartridge Types
  • Ink & Toner Basics
  • Number of Pages & Shelf Life
Cartridge Type
Genuine or OEM (Original) Cartridges Remanufactured Cartridges Compatible Cartridges
Description OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer, meaning the cartridge was made by the same company that made your printer. Original brand cartridges are very reliable and sometimes the only option if your printer is new to market or uncommon. Remanufactured ink is a genuine brand cartridge that has gone through one cycle of use. After use, the cartridge is recycled, acquired by a remanufacturing facility and put through a rigorous professional refurbishing process. During the refurbishing process the cartridge is disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and tested for quality. It's then carefully refilled, tested again and brought back to life. Buying remanufactured prevents one less cartridge from ending up in a landfill. A compatible cartridge is a brand new ink cartridge built by a manufacturer other than your printer. It's like buying the generic version of the genuine brand. Most are uniquely designed to differentiate from genuine cartridges. Despite any structural difference you may notice, the cartridge will still fit in your machine and print a full yield, just like the original brand.
Price Factors Many printer manufacturers follow the razor-and-blades business model which may result in higher priced genuine cartridges. Remanufactured ink is much cheaper than the original brand ink. It's far more cost effective to refurbish a previously used cartridge than create a new OEM from scratch. Compatible ink is much cheaper than the original brand. Compatible suppliers don't have to worry about the additional costs that hinder OEMs like new printers or firmware, which lets them keep prices low.
Quality Original cartridges work extremely well and are covered under a warranty by the printer manufacturer High quality remanufactured ink will match the quality of the original, but not all remanufactured ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results. High quality compatible ink will match the quality of the original, but not all compatible ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results.
What's the difference between ink and toner cartridges?
Ink Cartridges Toner Cartridges
Printer Type Work with inkjet printers Work with laser printers
Material Liquid ink Dry powder
How it works Inkjet printers use a series of nozzles that spray tiny drops of ink directly on the print suface Laser toner printers use static electricity and heat to bond dry toner powder to a page
Commonly used by Casual home users, small business and photographers Large businesses and schools
Number of Pages You Can Print A cartridge's page yield is the estimated number of pages you can print. Page yield is based on 5% page coverage. This means that the quoted page yield is based upon printed pages where only 5% of the page has been imprinted with ink. For example, a short memo has approximately 5% coverage. If you have a cartridge that has a yield of 500 pages, it can print 500 pages of that short memo. If you are printing letters, photos or graphics, your coverage will vary greatly and your page yield will drop significantly.
Cartridge Warranty and Shelf Life Most ink and toner cartridges include a warranty or "best by" date on their box. Remanufactured and compatible ink cartridges can last 12-18 months unopened, and toner cartridges can last up to 3 years.
Cartridge Care and Storage Only open a cartridge when you need it. Opened cartridges will eventually dry out, especially if the protective tape or clip has been removed. If you have an open ink cartridge around and would like to try and prevent it from drying out, place it nozzle side up in a plastic airtight tub. If your cartridge came with protective tape or a clip reapply both before storing. Place a damp cloth or paper towel in the tub, next to the cartridge and keep it stored in a cool, dark place.
