What ink does HP DeskJet 2640 use?
The HP DeskJet 2640 printer uses one black and one tricolor HP 65 standard or 65XL high yield ink cartridge. A high yield HP 65XL ink cartridge carries more ink and prints more pages than its standard yield counterpart.
How to install HP DeskJet 2640 Ink
- Pull down the paper output tray. This will expose the ink cartridge chamber door. Gently pull the handle of the ink chamber door to open it forward.
- Wait for the cartridges to stop before touching it. Once it stops, carefully push the ink cartridge you want to replace downwards to release it. Once it's released, pull it out.
- Remove the packaging from your DeskJet 2640 new ink cartridges, making sure not to touch the golden contacts so as not to encounter printer communication problems later on.
- Slide the new cartridge into the correct slot: when you're facing the ink cartridge chamber, black is on the right, and the tricolor cartridge goes on the left.
- Push the cartridge until it clicks into place. You might need to hold the back of the printer so it doesn't slide backwards.
- Close the ink cartridge chamber door, and wait for the printer to prime the new cartridges. Once that's done, you're ready to print.
